BLT with a Fried Egg at Tongue ‘n’ Cheek, Brockley Market

One of my favourite Saturday morning activities is a trip to Brockley Market, and now that so many of my friends have moved to south east London, it has become a social event as well as simply an opportunity to gorge on street food. This morning, we met up with my friends Katie and Jonny and all headed straight for the Tongue ‘n’ Cheek stand. I’m a big fan of their ‘Heartbreaker’ burger, made with 50% ground beef and 50% ox heart (it’s amazing) and their gargantuan Philly cheesesteak, but this morning I tried what looked like a new addition to their menu: their BLT. The smoked streaky bacon came from The Butchery (so you know it is good), and was piled up on good sourdough with lettuce and tomato, seasoned with salt and herbs and loosened up with a little mayo. The fried egg was extra, but I just had to.
